We can tell how someone is feeling and sometimes what they’re thinking by noticing the way someone is holding or talking with their hands.
Appearance, gestures, the way we position them or hold them. Hands hold emotion. Intent. Compassion. Distance. Hands give weight to words. They literally have a language of their own.
At the start of the pandemic, I found myself obsessively washing my hands without thinking about it.
On stepping back to look at a collection of outtakes from my ISO project - Ngātahi - it dawned on me that my obsession had stemmed into a project of its own.
